Description

We're starting them for you! We're excited to offer our Stonehead Cabbage plugs. Stonehead Cabbage is a hybrid cabbage variety that is widely considered one of the easiest to grow. Stonehead is resistant to many common cabbage diseases and also resistant to cracking and splitting as it matures. This variety produces round, medium-sized heads that average 4-6 lbs. An AAS winner in 1969, Stonehead is an early-maturing variety with a great holding ability. This lengthens the harvesting window so that you don’t need to harvest the entire crop/row at one time. This is a great variety for making any cabbage dish imaginable. Use it for slaws, sauerkraut, or filling winter soups. Brassica oleracea var capitata. Seed garden label included. 10, 20,40, or 100 plug bundles

Stonehead Cabbage Plugs

Cabbage will grow best in areas where weeds are kept to a minimum. It is moderately frost-tolerant and performs better when planted in cooler weather. Cabbage will tend to bolt in warmer temperatures. Plant cabbage early in spring for a late spring/early summer harvest, or plant in late summer/early fall for a fall harvest. Cabbage are heavy feeders and require a considerable amount of nitrogen for larger heads. For best results, inject or soil drench with a balanced fertilizer at least once every two weeks. If smaller heads are desired, less fertilizer will be adequate.

*Note - limited quantity available each week, plugs will be shipped on Mondays & Tuesdays beginning in September through October 7th.*

Hoss will conduct a full assessment of plants before they are shipped to ensure healthy plants are shipped to you. We recommend transplanting your plugs the same day you receive them or the next day. It is the customer's responsibility to assess their own weather conditions and planting times prior to ordering, please do not order if it's too early. If plants, upon arrival, are found to be in questionable health, please email pictures to Customer Support at support@growhoss.com within 24 hours of receiving your order and we will promptly review your concerns and submission. If your plants are not watered or planted in a timely manner, they may not survive.
