Savanna Mustard is the fastest-growing and most tender mustard green we’ve found. Early-maturity. Grow as baby greens or harvest at full size. Cut-and-come again type crop. Brassica juncea. 20 days to maturity.

500 seeds per packet

Savanna Mustard is a hybrid, tendergreen mustard variety with early maturity and extremely fast growth. This is the fastest-growing variety of mustard or greens we have found. It is also the most tender and sweetest mustard variety we've found. Unlike traditional, open-pollinated varieties, the stems are tender and do not need to be removed for eating. When cut small, Savanna Mustard may be used a salad green. It can also be sauteed or boiled for a more traditional preparation. It has a milder flavor than traditional mustard with less "bite" or spiciness.

For baby green production, plant densely on a 2-3' wide bed and harvest when greens are about 4-5" tall. Savanna may also be harvested at larger stages. This is a cut-and-come again type green that provides multiple harvests throughout the cool growing season. This hybrid variety is cold-tolerant and heat-tolerant, and is slow to bolt as temperatures warm in late spring.

Savanna Mustard may be direct-seeded or transplanted, depending on the desired harvest. If smaller leaves are desired, direct seed with a walk-behind seeder and plant densely in a 2-3′ bed. Harvest with a sharp knife once leaves have grown to the desired size. New leaves will continue to emerge for repeat harvests throughout the growing season. If larger bunches and leaves are desired, transplanting might be the best option. We recommend starting transplants 3-4 weeks before the desired outdoor planting date. Mustard transplants grow great in our heavy-duty seed starting trays, where they develop a solid root ball with roots that are trained to grow downward. Plants are ready to go in the ground when they can be easily pulled from the cells in the seed starting tray.
