Purple Top Turnip seed tape is an heirloom, open-pollinated variety with white roots that have purple crowns. Its tender, spicy flavor makes it perfect for raw vegetable dishes. The flavor is best when harvested at 3-4" in diameter. Plants produce large, lobed greens that are excellent sautéed or boiled. Leaves will have the best flavor when exposed to light frost in the late fall/winter months.

Growing Information

To use seed tape in your garden, begin by preparing a clean and well-tilled planting bed. Lay the seed tape in straight rows, ensuring that it's placed at the recommended spacing for the specific crop you're planting. Gently cover the seed tape with a thin layer of soil, water it thoroughly, and then keep the soil consistently moist to facilitate germination. This convenient method helps ensure even seed distribution and proper spacing, making it a great choice for gardeners looking for an efficient and hassle-free way to sow Seeds.

Only 1/2 of my beets came up. None of my onions came up. My turnips did fairly well- about 3/4 of them came up

First time using seed tape. So easy to use especially with small seeds.
Have a great looking crop and I think every seed germinated. Will definitely order again.
Thanks Hoss

Finally!

I have always had trouble with turnips because I would sow them too thickly, then re-sow if they didn't come up quickly, resulting in a mass thicket that was too crowded to grow turnips. The seed tape solved that problem. They are up and nicely spaced.
