Orient Wonder Bean is an open-pollinated variety of bean that is popular in Asian and oriental cuisines. Also known as asparagus beans, yard-long beans or Chinese noodle beans, these beans are long and slender with beans that are slow to develop. As a result, the pods stay nice and tender even at longer lengths.
Orient Wonder Bean produces vigorous, vining plants that can grow as tall as 9-12' given the appropriate trellis. The plants perform well in hot and humid conditions, but will also set fruit more reliably than other bean varieties in cooler conditions. These "yard-long beans" are best harvested at 15-18" long, but can get up to 30" long if left on the vines.
