Description
Oregon Sugar Pod Pea is a snow pea variety that has a sweet and crunchy flavor for a wide range of dishes and presentations. The bushy plants are compact and grow to 28-30" tall. As a result, they don't require trellising like traditional English peas. Plants produce 4 1/2" long pods that are smooth and without strings. Oregon Sugar Pod is a "double-podded" variety, which means it produces two pods per plant node.
Oregon Sugar Pod Pea is known for its productivity and disease package. Because it is resistant to many common diseases, it can be grown earlier in the fall than most varieties. This will allow for more harvests and greater production into the fall months. Oregon Sugar Pod can be consumed raw or cooked. Because it is so tender, it makes a great addition to salads or as a raw snack. When cooked, it provides a great complement to stir fries and other steamed vegetable medleys. It also freezes well when blanched, dried and vacuum-sealed.
