Red Creole, Vidora, and 1015Y Texas SuperSweet are all short-day onion varieties. Each bundle contains 50 plants.

Red Creole Onion is a short-day variety that performs well in southern planting zones. Bright red, flattened onions have a crisp texture and great onion flavor. Excellent for eating raw. 110 days to maturity.

Vidora Onion is a short-day, yellow onion that performs well in the southern states. This sweet onion variety produces yellow, granex-style onions that are slightly flattened that have excellent bolting tolerance. Vidora onions are huge! This variety produces jumbo, colossal onions that are easily larger than a softball. These perform best when planted in the fall and overwintered. If your winter temps are rarely below 20 degrees, this is the preferred growing method.

1015Y Texas SuperSweet Onion is short-day onion that’s one of the most popular sweet onion varieties. Produces large, yellow sweet onions that average 1 lb and 4-5″ in diameter. 115 days to maturity.

Plant Short-day varieties in fall and over-winter for a spring harvest. Short-day onion varieties start the bulbing process when day length reaches 10-12 hours.

* NOTE * We will begin shipping orders for onion plants November 18th.

Wet, mushy, smelly onion sets

Just received my onions and they are wet, mushy, and smell. I am going to lay them out to dry a bit and see if they are salvageable.

I Expected Much Better

I am very very disappointed in receiving my order of onion plants in the condition they are in. Half of the greenery on the onions tops are dead and mushy and some look as if they are on their way to being moldy and they smell. Also to add the garlic I ordered a few months ago arrived so dried out I couldn’t even plant it. I don’t normally do reviews but these shipments have been very disappointing. My shipments were opened the same day I received them so it’s not like they were sitting in the boxes for days. This is the last time I will order from Hoss.

Very happy

Everything arrived in excellent condition! They sent more than 50 of each, I assume incase some had issues, so I planted all I could handle and gave the rest away. I harvested SO many wonderful onions (well over 100, I think closer to 200) and now it's time to buy them again for next years harvest! Zone 9a for what it's worth. Thank you Hoss!
