Description

The Mini-Me Cucumber is a dependable and high yielding variety that grows vigorously and forms a low-growing, far-spreading vine. By training the vines to grow vertically on support, you can improve air circulation, produce straighter fruit, prevent disease, and make harvest easier.

Cucumbers perform best when direct-seeded. They do not perform as well when transplanted. Cucumbers may be direct-seeded by hand or with a walk-behind seeder. To obtain a good stand of plants, we suggest planting Seeds every 6-8" inches and thinning to one seed per foot.

Cucumbers are a vining plant and grow best when given a trellised structure to climb. Use a strong trellis that is well-supported with deeply driven stakes. Keeping plants off the ground will reduce the potential of plant diseases like mildews and other diseases that can result from excess plant moisture.

Trellising will also keep the fruits cleaner and save time with harvesting and processing. It will also help to prevent fruit discoloration or yellowing from sitting on the soil surface. Our Hortonova Trellis Netting works great for trellising cucumbers and is easy to install.

Living in SE Michigan I'm out of synch with Hoss by a few months. However, I ordered garlic from you last fall and was greatly impressed with the quality. The same goes for the assortment of seed potatoes that I ordered as soon as they were available. Just yesterday I start my Hossinater tomatoes and bell peppers. Looking forward to warmer weather so that I can "get dirty".

Challenging to keep alive

The early days as seedings are difficult. While the ones that survived are thriving, it was challenging to grow them compared to other cucumbers. Most of my seedlings (80%) which looked healthy just suddenly wilted and died without yellowing as if they were damaged low on the stem before they got to 3 inches. They were indoors and given full spectrum artificial light as it isn't warm enough to move them outside yet. I just kept growing new batches until I ran out of seeds. I took great care not to disturb them, but 4 out of 5 still died. The ones that survived are thriving at over 6 inches now.

We are zone 9a

Received our seeds in a timely manner. Planted our seed trays on 2-5-25 so will take a few days before they are up. We have shopped HOSS for many years and have always been pleased with their products.
