Imperial Valley Hybrid Spinach F1

$499
Imperial Valley Spinach is a hybrid variety that boasts dark green smooth leaves. The fast growth and an upright plant habit make it a grower friendly choice. 30-40 Days to Maturity

Treatment: Untreated

Description

Imperial Valley Spinach is the perfect addition to any garden or farmer's market. Its deep green, Asian-style leaves not only add color and interest, but also offer strong and flexible petioles for easy harvesting. With resistance to downy mildew and a fast growth rate, this spinach is a must-have for any grower.

Growing Information

Imperial Valley Spinach may be direct-seeded or transplanted. Transplanting allows for more consistent plant spacing and prevents seedlings from competing with weeds in the early stages of the plant. We recommend starting transplants 3-4 weeks before the desired outdoor planting date. Spinach transplants grow great in our heavy-duty seed starting trays, where they develop a solid root ball with roots that are trained to grow downward. Plants are ready to go in the ground when they can be easily pulled from the cells in the seed starting tray.

For direct-seeding, we suggest using the #2 seed plate with our Hoss Garden Seeder. It is important to always check the hole size to make sure the seeds can freely flow through the holes. If necessary, drill the holes slightly larger to accommodate the seed. When direct seeding, we suggest planting a dense bed so that any weed growth is shaded once plants get larger.
