Check out our Corn Growing Guide to learn more about how to grow corn in your garden.

Glacial Sweet Corn is a hybrid, supersweet corn variety with brightest, white kernels you've ever seen! This is widely-considered one of the best-tasting white corn varieties. Glacial produces strong, vigorous plants that average 6' tall and has 8" ears that are set at 20" on the plants. The ears have excellent husk coverage which helps to protect from pest damage and also protects them throughout the harvesting process.

Glacial Sweet Corn is a supersweet (sh2) variety, which means it couples superb flavor and excellent storage ability. Compared to traditional varieties, supersweet varieties provide an extended harvest window and a prolonged processing window. This is ideal for those who are selling corn for market, or for those backyard gardeners who need more time to process and freeze it.

Sweet corn should be planted in the spring after the last frost date. Sweet corn can be grown throughout the warmer months up until fall, as long as time is permitted for harvest before first frost. Succession planting is recommended with at least two plantings, one in early spring and one in late summer/early fall. Corn ear worm pressure will be greater in the warmer months, but this can be alleviated by applying spinosad to silks and tassels once they appear.

We recommend planting sweet corn using a walk-behind planter like our Hoss Garden Seeder. Once plants emerge, thin plants to 6-8" depending on adequate irrigation. If drip irrigation is used, in-row spacing may be as close as 6". If water is scarce, a wider in-row spacing will be necessary. For pollination purposes, corn should be planted in a square plot with rows on 30-36" spacing. Planting a few long rows will result in poor germination and absence of kernels on the cobs.

My Most Favorite Sweet Corn

I have been gardening over 40 years here in Pa..Think I've tried about every sweet corn out there..and this variety has been the best one I've ever found..nice size ears with tender and sweet kernels that I also cut off the cob and freeze ..tastes just as good fresh or frozen off the cob during the winter..I personally find this one to be a keeper and will continue to plant it.

A+ variety. Phenomenal.

One of the best tasting and largest ear varieties you can grow. Highly recommended and doesn't need any additions like butter and flavorings as it perfect straight from the garden/field.

Glacial super sweet corn

By far the tastiest super sweet corn that we have grown so far. We always ordered from other seed companies but it’s Hoss in the future!
