Chef’s Choice Black is an indeterminate, hybrid, variety. This beefsteak type tomato with a dark green/brown/black hue. The perfect meaty, juicy, full flavored tomato with a hint of saltiness that enhances each bite! Solanum lycopersicum. 75 days to maturity.

Chef’s Choice Black is an indeterminate, hybrid, variety. This beefsteak type tomato with a dark green/brown/black hue. The perfect meaty, juicy, full flavored tomato with a hint of saltiness that enhances each bite!

Growing Information

Tomatoes are in the nightshade family along with peppers and eggplant. Plants in the nightshade family are susceptible to blossom end rot, which is a result of a calcium deficiency. To prevent or alleviate this problem, apply pelleted gypsum at the base of the plant at bloom set. Tomatoes do best when transplanted, as the germination time can be longer than most vegetable seeds. They grow very well in our heavy-duty seed starting trays. Plants should be started 4-6 weeks before the intended outdoor planting date.

If conditions outside are favorable, transplants may be planted directly from our 162 cell trays. If conditions are still too cold for planting tomatoes, transplants may be "stepped-up" to 4" pots to allow more room to grow. Tomatoes can produce heavy fruits and will require some form of support to keep the plant upright. This ensures that plants and fruits stay off the ground, reducing the possibility of disease and keeping fruits clean.

A winner

Healthy plants grew a ton of tomatoes through the season. Plants handled the weeks of 100+ degree weather really well. Had outstanding flavor as well, so much so I'm not growing any heirloom black or purple tomatoes this year, just planted a couple of these because I know they will thrive and produce until Fall.

Tomato seeds are NOT giving tomatoes/Wait until the end of Summer

Received seeds last week & they aren’t growing tomatoes! These tomato seeds are soooo bad, that the plant isn’t even full-grown yet. EVEN WORSE! THESE TOMATO SEEDS HAVENT EVEN SPROUTED YET!!! What gives?!

Oh wait! Perhaps I should give these tomato seeds more time to sprout, huh? Kinda like you should wait until the end of summer to ask for your reviews.

Be patient! If you really want an honest survey, wait until the end of Summer, then ask, okay? BOHICA PEPPERHUT & PEPPERJOES does the same thing. They rush through sending their seeds then wait one flippin’ week, then ask for a review on their product.

If you honestly understand plants, the. You should understand this process as well. Be smart. Let the customer grow the product to fruition, then ask. Don’t be a turd.

Now let’s see if you’re really smart & patient & see if you’ll send out the e-mail survey in September asking for a review. Now that’ll be an honest review.
