Description

This tomato is everything you loved about the original Celebrity, plus an enhanced disease package! Celebrity Plus Tomato is a hybrid, determinate tomato variety that produces loads of delicious tomatoes in clusters. Celebrity has long been a favorite for backyard gardeners and homesteaders across the country, and Celebrity Plus has everything you love about the original with a bonus resistance to tomato spotted wilt virus. Also, this variety is widely-adapted to all growing regions!

Celebrity Plus Tomato is a determinate variety, but is sometimes characterized as semi-determinate. Although the plants are shorter resembling a determinate variety, it can often keep producing right until the first frost date. Tomatoes are medium to large in size and average 7-10 ounces. Fruits are uniform with no green shoulders and resistant to cracking.

Growing Information

Tomatoes are in the nightshade family along with peppers and eggplant. Plants in the nightshade family are susceptible to blossom end rot, which is a result of a calcium deficiency. To prevent or alleviate this problem, apply pelleted gypsum at the base of the plant at bloom set. Tomatoes do best when transplanted, as the germination time can be longer than most vegetable seed. They grow very well in our heavy-duty seed starting trays. Plants should be started 4-6 weeks before the intended outdoor planting date.

If conditions outside are favorable, transplants may be planted directly from our 162 cell trays. If conditions are still too cold for planting tomatoes, transplants may be "stepped-up" to 4" pots to allow more room to grow. Tomatoes can produce heavy fruits and will require some form of support to keep the plant upright. This ensures that plants and fruits stay off the ground, reducing the possibility of disease and keeping fruits clean.

Seed garden label included in seed pack.

Did not germinate

Purchased 02/25/24 along with the Hossinator Tomato. Planted both on 02/25/24. The Hossinator sprouted within 5 days. Still waiting for the Celebrity. Nothing has even thought about peeking above the soil. Not happy with these seeds at all.
