Description

Avenger Spinach is a hybrid spinach variety that has an exceptionally-long harvest window. This variety is widely-adapted and will perform well in a wide range of growing zones. The longer harvest window allows for more harvests and higher yields. Avenger produces an oval leaf with a dark green color. This is a great variety for fresh-eating or cooking. Plants produce a solid canopy of foliage which helps with weed suppression on dense plantings.

Growing Information

Avenger Spinach may be direct-seeded or transplanted. Transplanting allows for more consistent plant spacing and prevents seedlings from competing with weeds in the early stages of the plant. We recommend starting transplants 3-4 weeks before the desired outdoor planting date. Spinach transplants grow great in our heavy-duty seed starting trays, where they develop a solid root ball with roots that are trained to grow downward.

Plants are ready to go in the ground when they can be easily pulled from the cells in the seed starting tray. For direct-seeding, we suggest using the #2 seed plate with our Hoss Garden Seeder. It is important to always check the hole size to make sure the seeds can freely flow through the holes. If necessary, drill the holes slightly larger to accommodate the seed. When direct seeding, we suggest planting a dense bed so that any weed growth is shaded once plants get larger.

Arrived on time

I really can't say anything about the seeds yet. I only had them for 19 days so far and haven't planted them yet.

Healthy food.

I enjoy growing my own vegetables. It saves me time and money and I know that there are no unhealthy chemicals in my food. Since I’m over three quarter of a century in age I have constructed my container garden waist high which makes every aspect of gardening so much easier and simple.
