American Giant Hybrid Sunflower

American Giant Hybrid Sunflower produces massive stalks and blooms for the largest sunflowers you’ve ever seen! Great for creating borders and hedges. Plants grow 14′ tall on average with heads that are 1′ in diameter. Helianthus.

American Giant Hybrid Sunflower is sure to impress with its massive height and supersized flower heads. This hybrid sunflower variety will grow up to 14' tall on average, and can get as large as 17' tall! Unlike some of the older giant sunflower varieties, these won't fold in windy weather. They have thick, strong stalks that allow them to keep standing, even in windy and rainy conditions. The flower heads on this variety are giant as well. Blooms can get as large as 1' in diameter and will tend to grow larger when given more space.

American Giant Hybrid Sunflower is a great variety for creating hedges or borders around a vegetable garden or the entire property. It also makes a great plant for providing a windbreak on one edge of your property. The large heads will attract plenty of pollinators and beneficial insects for your vegetable garden. They're also great for attracting birds and other wildlife. You are sure to be the talk of the neighborhood with these mammoth sunflower plants.

American Giant Hybrid Sunflower can be direct seeded or transplanted. Direct-seeding sunflowers can be easily done with a walk-behind planter like our Hoss Garden Seeder. We recommend using a #3 seed plate and modifying the hole size to fit the variety being planted. Sunflower seed size can vary greatly from one variety to the next, therefore it’s important to always calibrate the seed plate hole size for the variety being planted. Sunflowers grow well when planted on drip irrigation. Bury the drip tape about 3-4" below the soil and plant directly on top of the tape. Sunflowers also perform well when transplanted. They grow great in our heavy-duty seed starting trays. Transplants are ready to go in the ground when plants can be easily pulled from the seed starting trays.

First time I’ve successfully grown sunflowers. These were fantastic! Many are 12-14’ tall with blooms all over the plant. Beautiful flowers.
