Avoid Rabbits and Other Critters from Damaging the Garden
Best Ways to Control Critters in the Garden
When producing vegetables in the garden you are prone to have many issues with critters eating away at your freshly growing plants. There a couple of methods to help control these rabbits, squirrels, or deer from destroying your garden. Once you identify which critter is nibbling in the garden you can apply the correct pesticide to spray. Typically the pesticides do not taste good to the critters so they will avoid eating the plants altogether. We recommend using pesticides that are all-natural or organic because they provide healthier plants and keep your garden clear of any harsh chemicals. Another way to avoid rabbits damaging the plants is to add some raised beds in the garden area. We suggest using our handheld garden sprayer to apply any pesticide or fungicide applications in the vegetable garden. For other insect problems like worms, thrips, ants, or whiteflies use our insecticides like Take Down Garden Spray, Spinosad, Bug Buster, or Monterey B.t..
Avoid Rabbits & Other Critters
On this week's episode, Travis explains the best ways to remove rabbits and other critters from damaging plants in the vegetable garden. Travis just planted a variety of Tiger Collards in the garden. This productive hybrid variety is very bolt-resistant in the heat and can persist well in the extremely harsh cold climates. During the fall months, he typically experiences some pressure from rabbits and other small critters that like to nibble in the garden and eat the transplants down to the stem. In order to be proactive and stay on top of these critters from eating the plants, Travis recommends spraying pesticides early. A natural garden spray like Bobbex will work effectively control rabbits, squirrels, groundhogs, and other critters in the garden. This is a foliar spray product that is known to do much better than ground sprays. This should be sprayed directly on the plant, but do not spray on any plant that is about ready to be harvested. The foliar spray needs to be used early on in the growth of the plant to condition the animals from eating the leaves because it does not taste good to them. Another benefit of the Bobbex is it has a sticking agent which means it will not wash off when it rains so you don't have to worry about re-applying it after a rainfall. Travis recommends spraying it early in the life of the plants about once every week or two to avoid any damage from happening. During the spring and summer, apply this Bobbex application every 10 to 14 days on plants that unprotected new growth and quickly growing plants in the vegetable garden. During the fall and winter, apply applications every 4 to 8 weeks depending on how bad the pest issue is in the garden. We also offer this Bobbex product in a Deer Repellent foliar spray. These Bobbex sprays come in 32 and 64-ounce jugs. Whether you are trying to avoid rabbits, groundhogs, squirrels or other small critters using a foliar spray like the Bobbex, Rabbit and Squirrel Repellent should do the trick if applied frequently and early on in plant life.
