Be sure to check out our Tomato Growing Guide for tips & tricks on being successful in growing tomatoes at home.

One of the truly great characteristics of the Hossinator, though, is that despite being a hybrid, it has the amazing vine-ripe acidic flavor of an heirloom tomato that is difficult to find today. The Hossinator has a medium growth height and produces impressively large fruits that average 8oz - 12oz each with no pruning needed. However, this variety can benefit from pruning to grow truly massive, award-winning tomatoes. If you want to grow huge tomatoes, simply prune suckers from the bottom of the plant up to the 4th limb. Pelleted.

The Hossinator Tomato is an absolute show-stopper! This determinate slicer variety is extremely versatile and has been widely adapted to successfully grow in different regions and seasons. It features a smooth, firm globe shape and an attractive scarlet red skin with a deep red flesh whose flavor is truly remarkable. The Hossinator has been bred to have one of the best disease packages of any tomato on the market.

Growing Information

Tomatoes are in the nightshade family along with peppers and eggplant. Plants in the nightshade family are susceptible to blossom end rot, which is a result of a calcium deficiency. To prevent or alleviate this problem, apply pelleted gypsum at the base of the plant at the bloom set. Tomatoes do best when transplanted, as the germination time can be longer than most vegetable Seeds. They grow very well in our heavy-duty seed starting trays. Plants should be started 4-6 weeks before the intended outdoor planting date.

Prolific!!

These plants produce! Bigger size than the Celebritys I usually grow here in NC. The flavor profile is mild and not overly acidic. These will be a regular addition to my determinate rows going forward.

Best of the Best in So Cal

Gave one to my 90 year old mom and she said it was the best tomato she has ever had in her life. Now that says a lot!
I like the fact these are pelleted. Started them in seed pots and grow lights back in Feb. now the plant is 5 feet high. Definitely a keeper. Thank you Hoss and family!

Great in 2024 not so much in 2025 still a winner!

The Hossinator became the favorite tomato I’ve ever grown in 2024 and was excited for 2025. I grew my own from seed in Atlanta area zone 8a in 2024 and a combo of from seed and transplants 2025. The transplants were well packaged and healthy. This year so far wasn’t the same experience for both seeds and transplants compared to 2024. All plants didn’t stay somewhat compact with huge fruit production and huge tomatoes like 2024. The plants grew tall with little fruit set till at about 5 feet and have had issues with early blight (manageable). I don’t blame this on Hoss, but the constant rain and cloudy skies May/June 2025. I will hope for the best I can get this year and try again next year.

Great Tomatoes

This is the second year that I have grown Hossinator Tomato plants from seed. Both years I had 100% germination rate. If you are thinking - $4.99 is too high for 10 seeds, is it really? I look at it this way, I got 10 tomato plants for $4.99. What a bargain! I grew Hossinator tomatoes from March - October of 2024. There is no way to guess how many pounds of tomatoes that was. Another great product from Hoss.
