Be sure to check out our Cauliflower Growing Guide for more tips & tricks on successfully growing cauliflower in your garden.

Twister Cauliflower is a hybrid with large, heavy heads and excellent wrapping. This variety gets its name from the leaves that twist around the cauliflower head to wrap and protect it. Heads are bright white and tightly packed due to the incredible internal wrapping that this variety has. Twister produces uniform harvests with very few defects. It produces a near-perfect head every time. This variety is widely adapted and has been shown to perform well from southern California to the northeast U.S. Twister Cauliflower is a great variety for backyard gardeners and small-market farmers. It has also been shown to perform particularly well in heavier soils. Roast these or put them in the air fryer for a quick, delicious treat!

Cauliflower may be direct-seeded, but it performs best when transplanted. Transplanting allows for more consistent plant spacing and prevents cauliflower seedlings from competing with weeds in the early stages of the plant. We recommend starting transplants 3-4 weeks before the desired outdoor planting date. Cauliflower transplants grow great in our heavy-duty seed starting trays, where they develop a solid root ball with roots that are trained to grow downward. Plants are ready to go in the ground when they can be easily pulled from the cells in the seed starting tray. Cauliflower crowns should be harvested when they reach about 5-6" in diameter. As crowns become larger, plant leaves are less able to wrap the crowns adequately, which can cause discoloration by the sun.  Although cauliflower leaves are frost-tolerant, the crowns are not. If frost is imminent while crowns are developing, be sure to use some form of row cover to protect the crowns from frost.

Twister cauliflower, so far so good

I've been struggling with my cauliflower for a while so I wanted to try Hoss' Twister.
So far, I'm pretty happy.
All the seeds germinated quickly and are growing healthy seedlings.
Just re-potted a couple days ago and am hardening off.
I have 30 starts.
I'm in Zone 6a so I don't have enough time for them to finish before bad weather.
I'm going to try to grow some in my long unused greenhouse and going to try some low tunnels for the first time.

Wish me luck.
I love cauliflower.

Great start!

It is only spring but I was happy with the generosity of seeds and the germination was near 100%! I’m exc for the harvest in a couple months but we are off to a good start.
