Description
Savanna Mustard is a hybrid, tendergreen mustard variety with early maturity and extremely fast growth. This is the fastest-growing variety of mustard or greens we have found. It is also the most tender and sweetest mustard variety we've found. Unlike traditional, open-pollinated varieties, the stems are tender and do not need to be removed for eating. When cut small, Savanna Mustard may be used a salad green. It can also be sauteed or boiled for a more traditional preparation. It has a milder flavor than traditional mustard with less "bite" or spiciness.
For baby green production, plant densely on a 2-3' wide bed and harvest when greens are about 4-5" tall. Savanna may also be harvested at larger stages. This is a cut-and-come again type green that provides multiple harvests throughout the cool growing season. This hybrid variety is cold-tolerant and heat-tolerant, and is slow to bolt as temperatures warm in late spring.
