Description

Small in size, big on flavor—meet Pint Size Lettuce, the perfect leafy green for gardeners short on space but not on expectations.

This mini green iceberg grows just 5–6 inches tall, making it ideal for containers, raised beds, or tight row plantings. Its compact, upright heads are easy to harvest, and its deep green leaves offer the same crisp texture and mild, sweet flavor you’d expect from a full-sized romaine—just in a smaller, faster-maturing package.

Whether you’re planting on a patio, balcony, or tucking it between other crops, Pint Size makes the most of your garden footprint. It’s slow to bolt, fast to mature, and reliably uniform—everything a modern grower needs in a small-but-mighty lettuce.

Why You’ll Love It:

  • Compact heads grow just 5–6 inches tall

  • Perfect for containers or small-space gardens

  • Crisp texture with mild, sweet flavor

  • Fast-maturing and slow to bolt

  • Ideal for market growers and home gardeners alike

If you’re looking to maximize yield in minimum space, Pint Size is the lettuce that pulls its weight in every square inch.

Growing Information

Pint Size Lettuce performs best when transplanted. Transplanting allows for more consistent plant spacing and prevents seedlings from competing with weeds in the early stages of the plant. We recommend starting transplants 3-4 weeks before the desired outdoor planting date. These Seeds are pelleted for easy singulation when planting in seed trays. Muir transplants grow great in our heavy-duty seed starting trays, where they develop a solid root ball with roots that are trained to grow downward. Lettuce transplants will need adequate fertilization once seedlings form the first set of true leaves. We recommend injecting 20-20-20 through the seedling watering system at least once a week to ensure plants are sufficiently fed. This can be done easily with our Brass Siphon Mixer and a five gallon bucket. Plants are ready to go in the ground when they can be easily pulled from the cells in the seed starting tray.
