Description
Stowell's Evergreen Sweet Corn is one of the oldest corn varieties in existence, dating back to the mid 1800s. This heirloom, open-pollinated sweet corn varieties produces consistent 8" ears of delicious white kernels. Because it is a standard (su) variety, it matures slightly later than (se) or supersweet varieties. Stowell's Evergreen Sweet Corn is relatively drought-tolerant and adaptable to a wide range of growing conditions. Ears of this variety remain in the milking stage for longer than most, hence the name "evergreen". Old timers were known to hang the stalks in the barn and harvest ears as they were needed. This is a great variety for canning or freezing.
